Heh, yeah, I think the Internet and the constant feeling of guilt are big culprits. My reading time has actually speeded up a little since graduating, believe it or not!

Oh geez, I remember that animated version! It was so WEIRD.

I think the importance of taking seriously people who lived in previous generations, honoring their lives and respecting their ideas (even when you end up disagreeing), is one of the bigger things I've learned in college.

You know how you read all those books when you were younger? Your nose was in one *all* the time! Plus, we didn't have the internets. I'm pretty sure that, plus adult ADD (meaning, you always feel like you need to be doing something else) has ruined those deliciously long reading stretches for both of us. ;)

Oddly enough, I don't think I ever read Pilgrim's Progress, nor am I sure I could muddle through it now either. (You know I tend to get bogged in allegorical/symbol-laden stories.) Plus I vaguely remember some animated version of PP that weirded me out as a kid. :) But since I am fairly familiar with the storyline, it's interesting to read your observations now on the book and the way it approaches things within the Christian journey. However, even though I'm not sure I'll be rushing to read it right now (perhaps children one day will change my reluctance to devote time to certain books??? ;), I do like your line about how it's useful to read things dead people wrote. ;)

Thanks! I haven't heard any feedback from anyone else really, but what the heck, I'm game. If the offer's still open I'd love an invite!

I'll be interested in hearing about your experience - I'm planning to move my blog to a self-hosted one too. I've been thinking to try the self-hosted upgrade from Wordpress directly - plus I can do a private domain registration through them. And I can always decide on what hosting to use in a year...

Thanks! I'm thinking about talking more about it on this blog--the thing itself is pretty dense, but I thought I might try to boil the chapters down to the bits that blog-readers would find interesting.
